Windows 8 Ecosystem

Windows 8 Ecosystem

There has been a lot of discussions whether or not Microsoft will succeed with their new Ecosystem Windows 8 and Windows phone 8.

Alot of people seem upset about the new Windows UI (former Metro UI) and that it wont work on non touchscreen enabled devices such as Desktops and Laptops.

They all "got it on the backfoot" as we say in Sweden, and let me explain why:

Laptops:

Synaptics is building the touchpad/clickpad/mouspads to the majority of laptops in the world. This means that in Windows 8 you will have the same gesture friendly capability on a laptop as you have on a tablet with touch screen.

Desktops:

For one:

A Lot of HW vendors are today preparing for the windows 8 launch with producing new peripherals for this new ecosystem. One of them is Logictech which have produced a new series of Touchpads & mousepads for desktops which will enable desktop owners to use the gestures even when on a desktop without having to buy a touchscreen.

Second of all:

There is already a reg-edit hack presented on several sites including Youtube which actually enables the old startsbutton and together with the one click to get the the old UI it will basically give old Windows based applications chance to adopt.
look at this Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0CAuvlmPbJE

Third and last:

Some manufactures has already included an option to get the start button back as a software.

Conclusion

I really think that if Microsoft can get the message out there to the public then Windows 8 will prevail. I really think that the new Windows family is the best product line Microsoft has produced so far and they are doing the right thing by sticking their nose out really long and taking a risk by innovation.
